How did you get into your line of work? My father, the late Ernal Foster, started offshore charter fishing in 1937. In 1951 he caught the marlin that started bill fishing off the North Carolina coast. I was 6 years old at the time and I thought that my dad was really special and I wanted to be just like him. And, like him, I now operate the Albatross Fleet. I guess I really had no choice because growing up in Hatteras in the 1950s was magical. Charter fishing was just beginning to take off. Hatteras was one of the places to be in the sport fishing world, and my father and his brother Captain Bill Foster were recognized as leaders in its development.
