Description
Israel's deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship has ignited unprecedented anger in Turkey and driven the Jewish state's relations with its most important Muslim ally to their lowest point in six decades. In a furious attack on the Jewish state in Parliament Tuesday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayep Erdogan warned that no one should try to test Turkey's strength by making it angry, according to the Arabic translation of his speech on Tuesday. Israel, which was in the eye of a global diplomatic storm yesterday, warned that no aid ships should be sent to the Gaza Strip as long as the Israeli blockade remains in effect. Erdogan told parliament Tuesday that the "bloody massacre" of at least four Turkish activists among nine passengers slain by Israeli naval commandos was a turning point in the long-standing alliance. Some 368 Turks are still being held in Israel.
